Abstract/Description: In 1792, Antoine-François de Fourcroy published a collection of "Axiomes" that defined the Science of Chemistry in that era. These statements are both presented and discussed in detail. This work is a "tour de force" for that time. Much of what is asserted is now considered less than helpful, but overall Fourcroy was well in advance of most other chemists, either in France or anywhere else. He managed to save both his head and to "save the phenomena" for many aspects of Chemistry.
