  • Chemistry on Stamps
    HIST Past Chair Dan Rabinovich was invited by the American Philatelic Society to present one of his "Chemistry on Stamps" talks for their "APS Stamp Chat" series, and the video recording is now available on YouTube ( This is an enjoyable introduction to the myriad instances of chemistry that can be found on stamps. Please share with anyone who may be interested.

  • Inuit Life and Culture
    Geoffrey Rayner-Canham has an interest in the chemistry underlying Inuit Life & Culture. He has been co-researching and co-authoring this work with two Inuit students. There is a substantial historical content to these articles. All of them have now been compiled and published as a special issue of the Canadian High School magazine Chem13 News (pdf of the articles). The issue is also available on-line at
